GAL ANS has significant experience of developing and delivering large scale, complex ATM Systems programmes containing numerous inter-dependencies. GAL ANS staff participate in all stages of ATM Systems projects throughout the lifecycle from inception through to delivery. Specific areas of involvement include User Requirements capture, Functional Requirements capture, Project Definition, Project Planning, procurement support (including tender evaluation, scoring and post tender clarifications), provision of Subject Matter Expertise to support design activities, installation, technical evaluation during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning and the obtaining of regulatory approvals.
A recent example of a large, complex programme is the implementation of a new Airfield Lighting Control & Monitoring System (ALCMS) at Abu Dhabi International. The ALCMS programme includes the implementation of an Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS),introduction of a replacement Multilateration (MLAT) system, the addition of 4 new Surface Movement Radars, the provision of a Multi Sensor Data Fusion (MSDF) platform and the installation of a 360° Tower Simulator in the Abu Dhabi Air Traffic Control Complex (ATCC). GAL ANS is instrumental in all of these projects that make up the ALCMS programme, providing Project Management, Air Traffic Engineering expertise, ATC training, adaptation and ATC Method of Operations and associated instructions. The ALCMS programme is large and complex, with multiple dependencies between the various projects. GAL ANS is working in close collaboration with Abu Dhabi Airports (ADAC) and the contracted vendors to manage the complex programme and ensure the delivery of a system that is fit for purpose.
During 2018 alone, GAL ANS is leading the delivery of:
