GAL ANS has extensive experience in delivering change to airspace and procedures. These changes range from minor adjustments to low-level VFR routes to major re-sectorisation of complex Terminal Airspace. GAL ANS staff are involved in the full range of activities associated with airspace change, from the development of the initial concept, through prototyping of designs, fast-time simulations, validation by real-time, human-in- the-loop simulations, hazard identification processes, development of safety cases, stakeholder consultation, procedure design, dataset adaptation, ATCO training and regulatory compliance, including both CAAP-41 and CAAP-25 Operational Approval.
GAL ANS was heavily involved in the UAE Airspace Restructure Project (ARP) that resulted in a new network and associated procedures being implemented throughout the UAE on 7 th December 2017. This airspace change introduced new SIDs, STARs, Holds, Missed Approaches and Instrument Approach Procedures for Abu Dhabi International, Al Ain International and Al Bateen Executive airports. In addition, the Terminal Airspace was re-sectorised, enabling additional aircraft movements to be accommodated at peak times.
GAL ANS is currently involved in the implementation of state-of- the-art RNP-AR procedures that utilise satellite navigation technology on board suitably equipped aircraft to enable them to fly shorter approach paths to Abu Dhabi International. The RNP-AR procedures will result in a decrease in track miles and a reduction in fuel burn thereby saving cost and lowering emissions.
